SUBJECT: Drowning Victims Located.

On Thursday, June 12^th  Sheriff Brad Lohrey of Sherman County requested the Skamania County Dive Team to respond for a possible drowning. At approximately 10:00 AM  divers, in 19 feet of water, recovered a body of an adult male. The drowning occurred in an old gravel pit in the town of Rufus.  The gravel pit is a tributary off of the Columbia River.   Anyone with information concerning this matter should contact the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office at 541-565-3622.

Later in the afternoon, Skamania County Divers recovered the body of Lauren Orton in the upper Wind River. Orton was pinned in a waterfall upstream from the High Bridge. The water level had lowered approximately 14” since the accident on April 27th, allowing divers to access her body.
